Protect your parents before their trip to Canada
A Super Visa is a way for eligible parents and grandparents to visit family in Canada for extended stays. Private emergency medical insurance is an application requirement, not an optional travel extra. Families in Brampton often need to balance affordable premiums with the exclusions, deductibles and medical-history rules that actually determine claim eligibility.
Your first step is to enter the traveller’s age and coverage dates into the quoting tool above. Check the plans available for that person, then read the certificate and policy wording before purchasing. A cheap quote alone does not establish that medical conditions will be covered.
2026 Super Visa insurance essentials
- $100,000 minimum emergency medical coverage per applicant.
- At least one year of validity from the date of entry to Canada.
- Coverage for health care, hospitalization and repatriation.
- An eligible insurance provider and a purchased policy; a quotation by itself is not acceptable proof.
- A policy that remains valid for every entry and throughout the intended stay.
IRCC allows qualifying Canadian insurers and certain approved insurers outside Canada. Not every overseas insurer is acceptable. See IRCC insurance documentation.
